Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega, Jr. was fishing with relatives when two men attempted to rob them, opening fire on Vega and his family. Vega was shot and killed, leaving behind his wife and three children.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega, Jr. requests that donations be made to:

Javier Vega, Jr. Memorial Fund at Rio Bank, P.O. Box 4169, McAllen, Texas 78502 (Routing Number 114915447 / Account Number 4081153).

The rumor that the Ajo Border Patrol Station has had Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO) decertified is false.  An email put out by management restricted the use of AUO at the Ajo station, but has been rescinded pending the review of AUO by Customs and Border Protection.

As of this time the only station that has had AUO decertified is the Grand Marais Border Patrol Station.

The National Border Patrol Council wishes to thank Glenn Beck and Mercury One for the recent contribution to the Border Patrol Agents Legal Defense and Relief Fund.  Their generous contribution will go towards helping Border Patrol agents in need and the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

We appreciate greatly that Mr. Beck and Mercury One have recognized the hard work and sefless dedication of Border Patrol agents nationwide.  It is good to know that there are those willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with Border Patrol agents and to assist in "Protecting Those Who Protect Our Borders."
