The National Border Patrol Council was recently notified that as recently as July 9, 2014, illegal aliens, who had been processed by Border Patrol agents in the Laredo Sector, were released with an I-862, Notice to Appear, and used that document as identification to board commercial aircraft at Laredo International Airport.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector of the United State Border Patrol is currently experiencing record high numbers of unaccompanied juveniles and Other Than Mexicans (OTMs).  These apprehensions are straining a border enforcement system due to the additional regulations, laws, and court decisions that apply to apprehended juveniles and OTMs.

We regret to report the loss of a Border Patrol agent from the Willcox, AZ Border Patrol Station.

Shortly after 7:30 this morning (MST) in Arizona, two on-duty Border Patrol agents were involved in a single-vehicle accident.  The agents were traveling Eastbound on I-10 near Sybil Road when the accident occurred. Both agents were transported to the University Medical Center in Tucson; one via Life Flight and the other via ground ambulance.

Sadly, the Border Patrol agent being transported via Life Flight – a 5-year veteran of the Border Patrol – died enroute.

As of this writing, the nature of other agent’s injuries is not known and the cause of the accident is being investigated.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the surviving agent and both families.

May the fallen Border Patrol agent rest in peace, you will not be forgotten.
